Summer's in full swing, and June's shaping up to be the most musical month of the year. From festival season highlights Field Day and All Points East to tours from Shakira and Haim, there's something for everyone, whether you're looking for your indie fill or a pop princess.
This month has more to offer than just live music, though, with exhibitions putting great art front and centre. The V&A's much-anticipated Frida Kahlo show is opening soon, as well as more niche but no less powerful exhibitions on Juno Calypso and Windrush photography.
We've even got two of our own events happening this June, with the final of our skincare panel talks, Refinery29 Presents: Skin Deep, taking place at Shoreditch's The Hoxton Hotel, and #SheInspiresMe LIVE Feminist Festival in partnership with Women for Women International.
Click through to see the gigs, events, films and shows we're looking forward to in June...

Field Day , Brockwell Park, 1-2 June
My boyfriend first said ‘I love you’ at Field Day four years ago, so I’ve always had a sweet spot for the two-day festival. This year, it’s taking place in my neck of the woods – on the superior side of the river – in Brockwell Park. After witnessing a stellar lineup of Erykah Badu, Gilles Peterson and Princess Nokia, I'll be heading to the Old Blue Last Beer after party at The Prince of Peckham down the road. Yes please.
LUMP, LUMP, 1 June
LUMP is Laura Marling’s latest musical venture, for which she’s paired up with producer Mike Lindsay. They met after she supported Neil Young last summer, and the upcoming album is the product of their minds meeting. If the already-released EPs, Late to the Flight and Curse of the Contemporary, are anything to go by, I’ll adore it.

Hereditary, in cinemas 15 June
People have been comparing this movie to The Exorcist and there are 5-star reviews aplenty (before it’s even released, can I add). So when we were invited to a preview, I jumped at the chance. Plus I’m a huge Toni Collette fan.
I literally can’t describe how weird, scary and TERRIFYING this movie is. If you invest in one cinema trip this month, it HAS to be this.
Frida Kahlo: Making Her Self Up, V&A Museum, from 16 June
This exhibition is dedicated to the amazing Kahlo, her iconic dresses and personal possessions. I've been a big, big fan of her for a long time and I can't wait to get to know her life story even more. Go check it out!

Orange Is The New Black, Season 6 on Netflix, June
I wasn’t sure I was going to continue OITNB after Season 3 but the last two seasons have been nigh on exceptional, so much so that I watched nearly all of Season 5 inside, while I was on holiday in beautiful Greece. I cannot wait to see what happens next on one of TV’s most exciting, groundbreaking, heartbreaking and political shows. No word on exact release date yet but considering each previous series has been released in the first half of June, I’ve got my fingers crossed.
All Points East, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Victoria Park, London, 3 June
Most of All Points East festival took place in May but there’s still one spectacular weekend left. Sunday night is my thing: Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Patti Smith, St. Vincent, Courtney Barnett, The Psychedelic Furs, Bo Ningen, The Black Lips and the marvellous Nadine Shah. Can. Not. Wait.

Asterix in Britain: Life and Work of René Goscinny, until 30 September at The Jewish Museum
I was obsessed with Astérix (and his rotund pal Obelix) as a kid so I am very excited to revisit my childhood at this exhibition. Alas, sweet bird of youth has flown!
Taste of London, Regent's Park, 13-17 June
I very rarely eat out in the kind of places that have real cutlery and tablecloths (champagne taste, lemonade pockets) so I'm keen to walk around this festival eating restaurant-standard food that I can actually afford. A day of grazing, yum.

Parklife, Heaton Park, Manchester, 9-10 June
There is no better way to kick off the summer than this – a guaranteed good time with incredible performers playing in the beautiful Heaton Park. The xx, N.e.r.d, Jamie xx, Skepta, A$AP Rocky, Lorde and so, so many more will be performing over the two days.
Crudo, Olivia Laing, 28 June
Olivia Laing radically rewires the novel in a brilliant, funny and emphatically raw account of love in the apocalypse. Crudo charts in real time what it was like to live and love in the horrifying summer of 2017. The reviews are great.

Juno Calypso: What To Do With a Million Years, TJ Boulting, until 23 June
I love the pink uneasiness of Juno’s work. This will be her second solo show based on the luxury underground bunker built by the founder of Avon. Since the death of the founder and his wife, the new owners have kept the bunker in perfect condition while they search for the possibility of eternal life. Juno stayed in the bunker and took eerie self-portraits in the different rooms; here, she shares her work at TJ Boulting for free. So cool.
Windrush: Portrait Of A Generation, Gallery OXO, until 10 June
I'm a granddaughter of the Windrush generation and a lover of retrospective photography, so this is a must-see.

Haim, Alexandra Palace, London, 15-16 June
I saw Haim at a secret gig in Camden’s KOKO last year and could barely move because they were so popular, so these sold-out shows are bound to be just as rammed. They’re known for their ability to get the crowd going (remember last year’s Glastonbury?), so I can’t wait to throw some shapes in one of London’s most historic venues – crowd density permitting.
Lululemon Sweatlife Festival, London’s Tobacco Dock, 23-24 June
Some of my favourite London fitness studios will be hosting classes at Sweatlife this year – Kobox, Frame, Psycle, Third Space – so I’ll definitely be enjoying a hearty bowl of porridge before I leave the house. I’m also excited to listen to talks from the likes of Good Gym and Park Run, about using fitness to do good, and Jody Shield on confidence. Maybe I’ll even Find Myself in the east London warehouse.

Shakira, El Dorado tour at The O2 Arena, London, 11 June
Sweet, naive, 13-year-old David who used to swivel his hips in front of his bedroom mirror in a vain attempt to imitate the "Hips Don’t Lie" video would probably spontaneously combust into a shower of pixie dust if he knew that, 14 years later, he would be going to see his idol in the flesh. Shakira, Shakira!
Florence + The Machine, High As Hope, 29 June
Having just got back from BBC’s Biggest Weekend where Florence Welch stole the show with her ethereal performance, I couldn’t be more excited for her fourth album to drop at the end of June. Lead single "Hunger" has all the elements of a classic Flo single and my expectations are high.
Like what you see? How about some more R29 goodness, right here?
