Wedding season is now in full swing. This means weeping at your best friend's first dance, getting chatted up by the groom's drunk uncle, and posing with questionable props in makeshift photo booths. It also means you've got (many, many) outfits to plan.
As is often the case, inspiration can be found on Instagram. From stylists to journalists, we're looking to the fashion crowd to see how they work occasion wear, whether that means a silk kimono for a more laid-back affair or a romantic, floor-length Valentino gown.
Of course, us mere mortals can't hope to turn out a new look for every single wedding we attend (is it just us or does the pile of invitations get bigger every year?), but we can emulate these dreamy get-ups with tried-and-tested brands like Self-Portrait, new favourites like Kitri, and high street heroes like Mango and Zara.

Who says you can't wear white to a wedding? Tamu McPherson of All The Pretty Birds proves that for more casual affairs, a crochet dress with tongue-in-cheek accessories (just look at those sunnies!) can be as statement making as the most formal of attire.
This embroidered dress from Zara would work as well at a relaxed wedding as on a beach over a swimsuit. Paired with black satin mules from H&M, it's occasion-appropriate, while the Saint Laurent sunglasses bring Tamu's signature flair.

Stylist Kate Foley wore a printed floor-length Valentino dress, complete with flowing cape. Employing our favourite colour combination – hot fuchsia and tomato red – this look needs nothing more than a red lip.
We're investing in this red cold-shouldered Self-Portrait dress to carry us all the way through summer, from garden parties to birthdays. It has a lot going on – florals, frills and pleats – so just add some simple fuchsia accessories: strap sandals from Mango and a beaded micro bag from Zara.

Staud designer Sarah Staudinger wore a frothy lemon and dusty pink dress, complete with ruffles around the knees and neckline, to DJ Cassie Coane's wedding last year.
London-based brand Kitri is making some of the sweetest summer dresses going this season, from cornflower blue prairie-esque numbers to this limoncello gingham piece. Cult Gaia's bag has ruled our Instagram feeds for the past two summers, and it's perfect for a wedding. Top it all off with geometric earrings from Mango and some simple but classic sandals, like these from Topshop.

Stylist and writer Harriet Stewart wore Kate Moss-approved Ibizan brand De La Vali to a wedding in May. She teamed her red and white polka dot maxi tea dress with flat mules and a beaded bag – the kitsch accessory of the season.
Who says you need height for a special occasion? The mule comes in all shapes and sizes, but a flat one with embellishment – think feathers and florals like these Uterqüe babes – and a pointed toe can look as fancy as a pair of heels. Cassie Coane's wedding was celebrated for her bridesmaids' attire – rather than being given an identikit style or tone of dress, they were encouraged to wear what they wanted, resulting in this fabulous photograph.
We're particularly taken with Mary-Kate Olsen's get-up: a silk robe with orange blooms, emerald mules and a flowered headband. Swoon.
This robe is the most perfect hue of orange. We'll be wearing it belted as a dress for wedding season with these jewel-toned Stradivarius mules and statement tasselled earrings from Mango. When colder months hit, we'll layer over rollnecks and floral dresses. Divine.
